- Do I need to reserve a seat for my Infant?
Please know that an Infant up to two years old (24 months) is not necessary to have their own separate seat. These infants may sit on their guardian’s lap as per their convenience. But as per Air India Infant policy, only one infant is allow to sit on single passenger lap. If any passenger traveling with two infants, you have to purchase for the second seat.
- Do I have to pay for my infant to travel on a flight?
The Answer is Yes. If the infant is more than the age of 24 months, then you have to buy his/her ticket. But the good thing is Air India usually charged 10% of an adult fare.
Please note:Infants below 14 days old are not permitted travel (both domestic and international).
However, in an exigency, wherein life saving treatment is mandatory for the infant, the mother may be permitted to fly with the new born, provided the new born is certified fit to fly, by the concerned pediatrician and is accompanied by at least a MBBS doctor.
A child is one who has reached his/her second birthday but not yet reached his/her twelfth birthday on the date of commencement of journey. Child tickets for international travel are 75% of the basic normal adult fare. For domestic travel nil discounts applies for travel in economy and 75% of the basic normal fare in business and first class.
Personal data as given to the Carrier for the purpose of making a reservation
for carriage and for obtaining ancillary services, by the passenger is recognized by him/her, authorizing the Carrier to retain such data and to transmit these to its own offices, other carriers or the providers of such services, in whatever country they may be located.
